Peter Capofari is an experienced trial attorney receiving not guilty verdicts in cases ranging from operating a vehicle while intoxicated to attempted murder.

Pete was a scholarship recipient and graduate of St. Thomas University School of Law located in Miami Gardens, Florida. Pete began his legal career as a Certified Legal Intern in the Florida State Attorney’s Office in the 17th Judicial Circuit (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and the 12th Judicial Circuit (Bradenton, FL) where he successfully prosecuted people charged with criminal offenses. Pete continued his career in prosecution working as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Elkhart County Prosecutors Office and the Hendricks County Prosecutors Office where he continued to gain trial experience.

With over fifteen years of experience in criminal law, in multiple jurisdictions, as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney, Pete possesses a unique expertise to assist you with your case. “A lot of times people are embarrassed by getting arrested. You shouldn’t be. How you respond to accusations is how you will be judged. I think that my greatest attribute is my empathy and getting to understand each client’s specific goal with their case and then having both the skill to litigate the case successfully and if needed to also negotiate an agreeable resolution.”

Born in Brooklyn, New York, but raised along the east coast as an Army Brat in South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and New York, Pete has learned from an early age to adapt quickly and easily confront new situations. As a trial attorney, the ability to quickly read the room and make valued judgements has served him well in the courtroom winning not guilty verdicts from Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated to Attempted Murder.

“I know it sounds corny, but I went to law school to help people. As a criminal defense attorney I have found that I can have a significant positive impact on people’s lives – life changing results. I believe compassion and responsiveness is what separates me from other attorneys along with a proven track record of success at trial.”

In his free time, Pete enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids and is a member of Holy Spirit Parish at Geist.

Pete is licensed to practice law in Florida (inactive), New York and Indiana.
